Alicia showed no surprise.

She stood gracefully.

Before leaving, she looked toward Sarah.

Sarah avoided eye contact.

Something in Alicia's calm had begun frightening her.

Minutes later, Alicia entered a small conference room inside the secure area of the airport.

A long dark-wood table dominated the room.

Swivel chairs surrounded it.

Already seated were a senior Grand Sky Airlines executive.

Two security officials.

Sarah Barnes.

And an FAA representative observing the matter.

Sarah's face looked pale and exhausted.

Every person in the room looked toward Alicia when she entered.

The silence carried expectation.

Some of them appeared to believe Alicia was there to explain herself.

Perhaps apologize.

Perhaps defend her refusal to move.

Alicia took a seat.

Unhurried.

She looked across the room.

Sarah's hands trembled slightly against the table.

The Grand Sky representative finally spoke.

"Ms. Morgan, we have reports that you caused a disturbance and refused to comply with a safety request from our crew."

Alicia said nothing.

Instead, she reached into her bag.

She removed the large envelope bearing the AdvaLink Group seal.

The movement instantly changed the room.

She opened the envelope.

Removed a formal document.

Placed it on the table.

At the top were her name and credentials.

Then Alicia spoke.

"My name is Alicia Morgan."

Her voice was clear.

"I am a senior executive and lead ethics auditor for AdvaLink Group."

Nobody moved.

Alicia continued.

"Grand Sky Airlines was subject to a confidential Level Three ethics and service audit today."

The airline executive's face changed.

He clearly had not expected those words.

Alicia paused.

Then delivered the conclusion.

"And I regret to inform you that Grand Sky Airlines has failed that audit."

Shock spread across the room.

The airline executive stared at the document.

The security officials exchanged looks.

The FAA representative immediately began taking notes.

Sarah Barnes stopped moving entirely.

The unassuming woman Sarah had ignored, insulted, and attempted to remove from first class was one of the people evaluating the financial partner on which Grand Sky's rescue package depended.

Alicia remained calm.

"Every act of discriminatory treatment and unnecessary escalation I experienced today has been documented."

Her eyes moved around the room.

"What concerns me most isn't the behavior of one employee."

She paused.

"It is the culture that allowed multiple employees, in different parts of the customer journey, to make the same assumptions."

The airline representative opened his mouth.

"Ms. Morgan, on behalf of Grand Sky, I want to apologize."

Alicia raised one hand.

"I'm not here for a simple apology."

The man stopped.
