Bethany thought she was calling a meeting to eliminate her biggest threat. She was actually scheduling her own public execution.

Bethany's final gambit was pure desperation wrapped in designer athleisure. Thursday morning, she scheduled security for the emergency meeting.

Her cousin's private security company sent two ex-military guys who looked like they bench pressed small cars for entertainment. Her plan was simple.

Have me trespassed from the community center. Control the narrative without opposition.

Just one problem with that strategy. The community center sat squarely on my easement land.

But before the meeting, Bethany tried one last Hail Mary play that showed just how far she'd fallen from suburban royalty to desperate criminal. She knocked on my door Wednesday evening with a duffel bag full of cash.

$50,000 crisp hundreds bundled like a drug dealer's retirement fund.

The bills smelled like her perfume and desperation, a combination that would have made a skunk gag. "Let's be reasonable here," she said, trying to sound like a negotiator instead of someone offering a bribe.

The families pooled their resources for a peaceful resolution. I started recording on my phone.

Washington's one-party consent law is beautiful for documenting criminal behavior. "Ma'am, are you offering me money to abandon my legal property rights?"

Her eye twitched.

"I'm offering you compensation for inconvenience. Surely, we can work something out that benefits everyone."

"Everyone except the people who actually own this land." I kept the phone rolling, watching her dig her legal grave deeper with every word.

"Thanks, but I'll pass. Some things aren't for sale."

She left the money on my porch like a pizza delivery gone wrong, probably thinking it would somehow change my mind.

I called Frank immediately. Attempted bribery voids any legitimate legal claims and adds criminal charges to the civil lawsuit pile.

Meanwhile, Bethany was distributing character assassination flyers throughout the neighborhood. Professional-looking documents claiming I was a dangerous sex offender based on creative misinterpretation of public records.

She'd taken my perfectly clean background check and twisted it into something that would have made tabloid journalists blush. The flyers went to every home, local businesses, county offices, basically anywhere someone might form an opinion about the criminal hermit threatening suburban paradise.

She was carpet bombing my reputation while I was carpet bombing her legal position with documented evidence. Thursday evening arrived like Christmas morning for anyone who enjoyed watching karma work overtime.

Bethany's security team showed up at 5:30, 30 minutes before the meeting. Two guys with military haircuts and attitudes that suggested they'd rather be anywhere else.

Smart men. They could smell a disaster brewing and started making phone calls to their company owner asking about situation guidance.

The community center parking lot filled with residents, Jessica's news crew, and enough tension to power the neighborhood for a week. I arrived at exactly 6:15, parked next to a Channel 7 van, and walked into a room that smelled like fear, sweat, and industrial strength carpet cleaner.

Bethany stood at the front like a general addressing troops before a doomed battle. Her usual confidence had cracked, replaced by the manic energy of someone who knows they're about to lose everything, but refuses to admit it.

"Ladies and gentlemen," she began, her voice slightly higher than normal, "we're here to address the ongoing threat to our community from outside criminal elements." I took a seat in the back corner, set my box of Gramps's documentation on the floor, and waited for the show to begin.
