Calvin barely reacted.

"I'm the towing company," he told her calmly. "I'm doing the job I was lawfully hired to do."

The first SUV disappeared down the driveway.

Then the second.

Each one was hauled away with the same procedural detachment Redline's crew had used on Wade's vehicles hours earlier.

Wade did not laugh.

He did not gloat.

He did not say a single provocative word as the tally climbed.

He simply stood near the gate, marking each departing vehicle against a running list and murmuring the numbers to himself as they passed.

"One of twenty-nine."

"Two of twenty-nine."

"Three of twenty-nine."

Increasingly desperate, Marissa called Troy Kessler and demanded that Redline send trucks back immediately to stop what was happening.

Troy did not answer.

By then, he had begun realizing that the twenty-two-vehicle operation he had carried out for her was becoming a legal disaster he wanted no part of.

As the eighth Blackridge vehicle was loaded for removal, the unmistakable sound of a patrol siren cut through the morning air from somewhere down the road.

Marissa's expression changed instantly from panic to relief.

She believed help had finally arrived to save her from the consequences of her own decisions.

She turned to Wade with a thin, triumphant smile.

"You're finished now. Real authorities are here."

Wade glanced at the small flash drive Rebecca had prepared containing copies of the footage.

"No," he said quietly. "This is just the part where everybody gets to see what happened last night."

Marissa reached the responding deputies before Wade did.

She launched immediately into an accusation that he was stealing the association's entire fleet in broad daylight.

She demanded that both Wade and Calvin be arrested for what she described as an organized theft of Blackridge property.

Investigator Mason Greer, who arrived shortly after the initial patrol unit, wasn't interested in accusations before understanding the basic facts.

His first question was simple.

"Who owns the land everyone is standing on?"

Wade produced his deed and county plat records without hesitation and laid them out clearly for Mason to review.

Marissa handed over her association paperwork instead, a stack of internal HOA documents with no connection to any government filing.

Wade's documents were official county records establishing clear, undisputed ownership of every acre in question.

Marissa's documents were internal HOA decisions with no legal authority beyond the association's own boundary lines, which did not extend to Wade's property.

Mason then asked whether Wade had formally instructed Marissa and her crew to leave the premises at any point that morning.

Wade pulled up the footage on his phone.

His recorded voice spoke for itself.

"Remove your vehicles and your people from my property immediately."

Marissa's recorded answer followed less than a second later.
