"Miss Stokes..."

Evelyn stopped.

"What?"

Linda hesitated.

"There appears to be another passenger assigned to seat 1A."

For a brief moment, Evelyn simply stared.

Then she looked toward the front seat.

And there she saw Angela Bennett.

A woman sitting peacefully.

A woman who had no idea she had just become the center of Evelyn's attention.

Evelyn's expression tightened.

"That can't be right."

Linda quickly checked again.

"I'll speak with the crew."

But Evelyn was already walking.

Her heels clicked against the floor as she approached Angela.

Passengers nearby noticed immediately.

Something about Evelyn's posture told them this wasn't a friendly conversation.

Angela looked up as Evelyn stopped beside her.

"Excuse me, ma'am."

Angela turned.

"Yes?"

Evelyn forced a polite smile.

"You appear to be sitting in my seat."

Angela glanced at her ticket.

Then back at Evelyn.

"I don't believe there is a mistake."

Her voice was calm.

"This seat was reserved under my name."

Evelyn blinked.

She wasn't used to hearing that answer.

Most people moved immediately when she asked.

She tilted her head.

"Perhaps you don't understand."

She looked around the cabin.

"I always sit in 1A when I fly this airline."

Angela remained calm.

"I understand that, but today this seat belongs to me."

The smile disappeared slightly from Evelyn's face.

She looked at Angela more carefully.

The expensive first-class environment.

The reserved seat.

The confidence.

Something about it bothered her.

"You are aware this is a VIP seat?"

Angela looked directly at her.

"Yes."

"And you still intend to remain here?"

"Yes."

The answer was simple.

No anger.

No argument.

Just certainty.

That frustrated Evelyn more than an insult would have.

She was used to people becoming nervous around her.

She was used to people explaining themselves.

But Angela didn't.

She simply sat there.

Comfortable.

Unmoved.

Evelyn turned toward Linda.

"Get someone."

Linda immediately nodded.

A few moments later, Greg returned.

"Is everything okay?"

Evelyn looked at him.

"Explain why my seat has been taken."

Greg glanced between the two women.

"Let me check the reservation."

He quickly reviewed the system.

After a few seconds, his expression became uncomfortable.

"Miss Stokes, it appears seat 1A was correctly assigned to Miss Bennett."

Evelyn stared at him.

"Excuse me?"

"There seems to have been an error in communication, but the seat is booked under Miss Bennett's name."

Evelyn laughed quietly.

Not because it was funny.
