"I know."

"Do you have anything else in your bag?"

"Glucose tablets."

"That's it?"

"How many?"

"Three left."

Lena's jaw tightened.

"That is not enough for a full flight."

Maya glanced at the tray in front of Victoria.

It was not supposed to be there.

Ethan returned from the galley without the easy smile he had worn earlier.

He was carrying a printed form now, folded once in his hand.

Clare followed close behind him.

"Miss Williams," Ethan said, "I've spoken with the captain."

Maya kept her phone recording.

"And?"

"He has been informed that you are refusing crew instruction, recording personnel, and escalating a service matter in a way that may interfere with departure."

"That is not what happened."

"That is what has been documented."

Lena spoke from behind Maya.

"Then your documentation is false."

Ethan's eyes moved to her.

"Ms. Ortiz."

"Lena Ortiz. Emergency nurse. Seat 3A."

"Miss Ortiz, unless you are asked for assistance by the crew, I need you to stop involving yourself."

Lena sat forward.

"I am involving myself because she is showing signs of hypoglycemic distress."

Clare sighed loudly.

"She is sitting upright and speaking clearly."

"That does not mean she's fine," Lena said. "That means she's trying to stay fine."

Ethan ignored that and placed the folded paper on Maya's tray table beside her phone and confirmation email.

"This is the reconciliation statement. Sign it, turn off the recording, and we will provide alternative service. If you refuse, the captain is prepared to have authorities meet the aircraft at JFK."

Maya looked down at the paper.

It was the same lie from Ethan's tablet, now printed as if paper made it more official.

Passenger refused reasonable meal alternatives.

Passenger continued unauthorized recording after crew instruction.

Passenger agreed to accept standard service and discontinue disruptive conduct.

Maya read it twice, slowly.

Then she looked up.

"You left out the coffee."

Ethan said nothing.

"You left out Clare taking it from my hand. You left out the medical label. You left out Mrs. Langford eating the meal with my name on it."

Victoria set her fork down.

"Oh, for heaven's sake."

Maya continued.

"You also left out the threat to have me arrested for recording what you're doing."

Ethan leaned closer.

"Miss Williams, I strongly advise you to think about your future before you choose to make this worse."

The words landed exactly where he aimed them.

Maya had a company.

Employees.

A contract.

A reputation that had taken years to build and minutes to damage.

A false police report could travel faster than an explanation.

The label unruly passenger could become a headline before her legal team even knew she had landed.

For one second, fear moved through her.

Then she heard Samuel's voice from earlier.

Give them the record.

Maya picked up the pen Ethan had placed beside the paper.

Clare relaxed a little.

Victoria smiled.

Maya wrote three words across the signature line.

I do not consent.
